CIS Executive Committee, IOM Administration to sign memorandum on mutual understanding in Minsk

Director General of the International Organization for Migration (IOM) Brunson McKinley will stay in Belarus on an official visit on September 17-20, BelTA learnt from the information and PR department of the Interior Ministry of Belarus.

The major goal of the visit is to sign a memorandum on mutual understanding and cooperation between the Executive Committee of the Commonwealth of the Independent States and the Administration of the International Organization for Migration.

The programme of the visit includes bilateral meetings with Head of the Administration of the President of Belarus Vladimir Makei, top officials of the Interior and Foreign Ministries of Belarus. Top priority attention will be turned to the issues of cooperation between Belarus and IOM, joint projects and estimation of cooperation in migration management and combating human trafficking.

Today IOM is one of the most stable and principal international partners of Belarus. The IOM General Director has been visiting Belarus for the fourth time. Mr. Brunson McKinley has been making personal contribution in the implementation of the Belarusian initiatives and strengthening the country’s status of a leader among the CIS countries in the efficient solution of migration problems as well as in the counteraction of human trafficking.

The creation of an international center for training, upgrading and retraining of the personnel in the area of migration and combating human trafficking in Minsk testifies to a close cooperation between the two parties.
