Brunson McKinley: migration issues should be settled on regional levelBelTa, 19 September 2008 “The rich experience of IOM in assisting governments to control migration processes shows that migration is a transnational phenomenon and cannot be regulated within only one state in the long-term perspective – it requires joint efforts,” Brunson McKinley noted. He added that the regional associations like the CIS can play a key role in uniting efforts to find the best solutions for migration issues today and tomorrow. According to him, the necessity to address the migration issues regionally has been widely recognized, and these issues are discussed more and more often in the regional and subregional contexts. The IOM is doing its best to support the regional dialogue on migration issues and the CIS can be one of the brightest examples
